In 2018, TCS provided more Faculty Grants than ever before. Faculty from our partner colleges had the opportunity to enhance their global network while providing services to people in need in countries around the world.

Summary
A three-day inter-disciplinary and educational experience focused on Global Education. The seminar topic was, “Global Education for the 21st Century” Participants developed a Global Education project to bring to their home campus and integrated the themes learned on this experience.

Faculty led a five-day staff and volunteer training for NGO, ‘Rays of Hope,’ in South Africa. They provided Rays of Hope with customized training that included counselling, mentoring, leadership and organizational skills.

Summary
Faculty from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology led a training program at Santa Dharma University (USD) in Yogyakarta, Indonesia for K-12 school guidance counselors. Topics included child development, inclusion of children with disabilities, international models in school counseling, prevention and intervention in schools, child advocacy, addressing diverse needs, juvenile delinquency, cultural competence, and research and evaluation.

Singita Fellowship
Sabi Sands & Johannesburg, South Africa

Summary
Dr. Chuck Piazza, Saybrook University, and Dr. Dorothy Zhang (The Chicago School) provided training and mentorship to teachers and leadership of 20 preschools in the rural area of Sabi Sands. This borders the well-known Kruger National Park in South Africa. Now in its 7th year, this Fellowship has traditionally been two weeks: one week of workshops for teachers and leadership during the July school holidays, and one week mentoring them in the school environment once the children are back from holidays.
